The HSE has been criticised for failing to establish a mental health helpline for students sitting State exams

Councillor Evelyn Parsons said students are overwhelmed and overloaded with mental health challenges coming up exams.

She said a properly resource student helpline could provide a clear one-stop-shop to provide supports and services

Independent TD Denis Naughten said the move was disappointing adding that he will now raise the issue in the Dáil with the Taoiseach:

"She asked me then to take it up with HSE nationally, which I did, and this led to the response back from the HSE stating that they are not prepared to establish a Mental Health Helpline for students facing state exams. I think this is deeply disappointing, particularly because of what young people have experienced over the last two years".
