The government is being urged to keep all options open regarding relief for low income families.
It's after St Vincent De Paul revealed it has received 30 per cent more calls for help in the first two months of this year compared to the same period in 2021.
The 200 euro energy credit is due to be applied to bills next month, with the government previously saying no further changes are expected until the Budget.
Head of Social Justice at St Vincent De Paul, Tricia Kielthy, is urging them to monitor the situation:
"The situation is very uncertain and volatile at the moment, but we already know that people are already very deep in energy poverty, and that situation is likely to get worse. We need to make sure that it's monitored closely that people aren't pushed further into energy poverty and additional steps may need to be taken."
