Gardaí Are Appealing For Witnesses After A Man Died Following Car Crash In Crosshaven

A woman has also died in a suspected hit and run in Galway

The man in his 70s, was the only occupant of the car which crashed on the R612 at Aghamarta at around 4:20pm yesterday.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital but died a short time later.

The road has reopened following a technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them in Carrigaline on 021 491 93 70.

The man is the 19th person to die on Cork roads since the start of the year.

A woman in her 50s has died after a suspected hit and run in county Galway.

The pedestrian was knocked down on the Barna to Spiddal Road in Furbo at 7.30pm last night.

It's believed she was struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

She was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead in Galway University Hospital a short time later.
