The Foreign Affairs Minister says the decision not to hold Stormont elections before Christmas creates space for progress on other issues.

Simon Coveney has welcomed the announcement by the Northern Secretary that no Assembly election will take place in December.

Chris Heaton-Harris says he will make a statement in the House of Commons next week to lay out the next steps.

The DUP says there's no basis for a fully functioning Stormont Executive or Assembly until the Northern Ireland Protocol is replaced.

East Belfast MLA David Brooks says there needs to be a focus on resolving the impasse.
