A Junior Minister says new measures aimed at low-income households will be introduced to help tackle the rising cost of living.

Coalition leaders will meet on Monday to discuss further steps.

Minister of State, Niall Collins, says the government plans to act on the escalating situation:

"The party leaders will meet on Monday to take stock of where we are in the current inflationary cycle. Today's we have brought in measures totalling about €2 billion. But equally we recognise that families are continuing to feel the pressure and government is determined that the next intervention will be targeted towards households which are feeling the pressure and which are very vulnerable".
