The back to school allowance is set to be paid into the accounts of 124,000 families from today.
An extra €100 which has been given due to rising costs will be paid next Monday, instead of the initial August date.
It's now worth €260 in total for children aged between four and 11, and €385 for children who are 12 and over.
The scheme to aid parents with clothing and footwear costs helped 137,000 families last year.
