The Foreign Affairs Minister says accommodating Ukrainian refugees is putting Ireland "under a lot of strain".

Latest CSO figures show more than 62,000 Ukrainians have fled here since the start of the Russian invasion.

Nearly 7,000 refugees are living in private accommodation and almost a quarter of hotels are now being used by the State to house Ukrainian refugees.

Minister Simon Coveney says we need to keep playing our part in helping people flee war.

"It's put the Irish system under a lot of strain in terms of accommodation, in terms of education, in terms of health care, in terms of social support.

"We know that, but this is this is something that every European country is is trying their best to offer solidarity towards Ukraine, and Ireland should be no different."
