Across Cork, there are 16 times more properties available on AirBnB than on Daft.ie.
At the moment in Cork, there are 1,496 short-term holiday lets available on Airbnb, but just 93 apartments and houses available for long-term rental.
Nationally, there are over ten times more short-term holiday lets than listings on Daft.ie.
According to the data platform Inside Airbnb, there are over fifteen thousand apartments and houses available across the country for short-term let.
However there are only one thousand, three hundred and five properties available for long-term rent on daft.ie.
The figures come at a time when there’s over 12,000 people living in homelessness here.
In some parts of the country there are hundreds of short-term lets available, while there is virtually nothing to rent.
In West Donegal, there are five hundred and seventy two short term lets available on Airbnb, while on daft.ie there is only one house available to rent.
Tighter legislation on Airbnb that could see an estimated 12,000 homes come on the market has been delayed by the European Commission.
