Reducing home sizes in the future would help Ireland hit it's climate targets.
That's according to the Irish Green Building Council which says houses should be 28 percent smaller, and part of a terrace.
The body says detached homes need a lot more materials to build, which increases the carbon footprint.
Pat Barry is CEO of the group and outlines what they are recommending:
"We need to move towards more compact development closer to our city's most compact typology that has the lowest embodied carbon and lowest operational carbon emissions, apartments and terraces per bed space."
