Donald Trump claims he has already won the US presidential election and is prepared to go to the Supreme Court over the result.

Counting is continuing with Donald Trump winning Florida, Ohio, Iowa and Texas in the last few hours.

Biden has 220 electoral college votes compared to 213 for Trump - the winner needs to reach 270.

The US President is ahead in the three key swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

But the Biden camp are confident they will flip those as hundreds of thousands of votes remain to be counted.

Speaking in the last few minutes, Donald Trump says the election is a fraud on the American people.

"This is a major fraud on our nation. We want the law to be used in a proper manner, so we'll be going to the US Supreme Court.

"We want all voting to stop. We don't want them to find any ballots at 4 o'clock in the morning and add them to the list, ok?"

Meanwhile, Democratic hopeful Joe Biden believes he's going to win the election.

"Folks, you heard me say it before. Every time I'd walk out of my Grandpa's house in Scranton he'd yell 'Joey! Keep the faith!'

"And my Grandma when she was alive she'd yell 'Know Joey, spread it! [the faith]'

"Keep the faith guys, we're going to win this!"
