600 new jobs have been announced for Cork.

The jobs are the result of a new 156,000-square-foot development by the medical technology company Stryker at Carrigtwohill.

The Alliance for Insurance Reform is welcoming a new bill on the personal injuries system which according to government will provide guidelines, clarity and consistency.

As part of the bill the role of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board will be enhanced and will offer a mediation service for the first time. It's due before the Dail in the autumn and should be enacted before the end of the year.

The Government is reportedly poised to spend 5 million euro on church owned properties so they can house Ukrainian refugees.

The money would be spent on renovating and maintaining older buildings owned by religious orders.

According to the Irish Independent the Department of Children, which is leading the state's efforts to house those fleeing the war in Ukraine, have held talks with the Association of Leaders of Missionaries and Religious in Ireland to secure church owned accommodation.
