The queue of people waiting to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth in London is gradually growing through the morning, on the first full day of her lying-in-state.

The late Monarch's coffin which is draped in the Royal Standard, will remain in Westminster Hall until her state funeral on Monday.

One mourner who passed by the casket described the atmosphere inside as 'breath-taking' while another said the silence was so deep 'you walk in and you could hear a pin drop'.

An official tracker says the queue's just under three miles long, taking an average of nine hours.

Her coffin is being guarded 24 hours a day, though one of the guards collapsed overnight, with nearby officials helping him back to his feet.

Rehearsals for Monday's state funeral have also been taking place in London.
