A 24 year old, former employee of the Church of Scientology, has failed in his appeal of his conviction and ninety day prison sentence, for verbally abusing an autism campaigner, over the phone.

At a sitting of the appeals court in Skibbereen yesterday, Judge Helen Boyle said there was absolute certainty that Nathan Moore, with an address in Tallagh, had made an abusive call to Fiona O'Leary on December 4th, 2017.

Judge Boyle said that the call which involved "offensive and foul language" had caused distress to Ms O'Leary, who herself has autism and has two children with the condition.

The country's enjoying Mediterranean like conditions this weekend with temperatures soaring into the high twenties.

Both Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are urging people to drive carefully and the Coast Guard and RNLI are asking people to be careful near water.

Fully vaccinated people travelling from Britain and the US to Ireland will no longer need to self-isolate on arrival here from Monday.

They also won't be required to take a PCR test 72 hours before departure.

People who aren't fully vaccinated will still need to test and isolate.

More than 150 people are now known to have died in severe flooding across Europe.

Rescuers are continuing to search for the more than one-thousand others still missing, after heavy rain swept away homes, cars and buildings.

There are ongoing efforts to prevent further damage too, with more rain forecast.
