It's understood a man and a woman who died in a drowning tragedy in Co. Kerry, were brother and sister.

They were taken from the water in Ballybunion yesterday evening.

It's thought they were holidaying in the area.

5,156 Round Zero offers will be issued by the Central Applications Office today to 4,027 applicants.

Round Zero offers relate to applicants who undertook Post Leaving Cert courses.

Applicants have until August 10th to accept or reject the offers.

The government must commit to introducing a windfall tax on energy companies before September's budget.

That's the call from the Social Democrats after the Taoiseach indicated the government would consider such a move in the budget.

The party says it is immoral that energy companies are profiteering on the energy crisis, caused by the war in Ukraine.

The parents of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre have been awarded 4.1 million dollars in damages.

They successfully sued internet conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for falsely claiming the mass shooting in 2012 was a hoax.

A jury in Texas still has to decide further damages against Jones for spreading falsehoods.
