President Vladimir Putin is said to be open to talks, after Joe Biden revealed he'd meet his counterpart to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
However, a Kremlin spokesperson says finding a compromise would be tricky, because land Russia claims as its "new territories" is viewed as illegally annexed regions by the US.
Meanwhile, the fighting goes on and Moscow continues to target Ukrainian energy facilities.
