The British Prime Minister's fighting for his job - after losing both his Chancellor and Health Secretary yesterday.

They quit, just as Boris Johnson was apologising for the way he handled allegations of inappropriate behaviour against his party's MP Chris Pincher.

After days of denials, he admitted he did know about it, but forgot.

Nadhim Zahawi has been appointed chancellor, while Steve Barclay's the new health secretary.

Speaking before the resignations, Mr Johnson spoke of his regrets promoting him.

"I wish that I in particular had acted on it and continued in Government, as he then went on to behave as far as we can see, according to the allegations that we have, very very badly."

A snap YouGov poll has found seven in 10 reckon Boris Johnson needs to step down.

Labour leader Keir Starmer has called for a snap election.

"This Government is collapsing, the Tory Party is corrupted, and changing one man at the top of the Tory Party won't make any difference, it won't fix the problems.

"Let's have a fresh start for Britain. Let's have a real change of government."

Someone who is still fighting Mr Johnson's corner is Brexit opportunities minister, Jacob Rees-Mogg.

He thinks it's unsurprising that he forgot about an investigation in 2019.

"If the Prime Minister is hearing endless things about all sorts of public business, he cannot possibly be expected to remember every single last detail, and that this was settled by an apology."
