It's claimed Donald Trump didn't care if supporters at a rally just before last year's Capitol Hill riot were armed with weapons.

A member of the former US President's team has appeared as a witness at a committee looking into the January 6th storming of Congress.

Cassidy Hutchinson claims Donald Trump tried to take control of the steering wheel of his presidential car, and drive to join supporters on the day.

She also says he was angry the Secret Service was using metal detectors to keep armed people out of the fenced-off area where he gave a speech.

Anthony Zurcher, the BBC's senior North American reporter, thinks some Republicans will change their mind about Donald Trump now:

"His supporters are going to stick with him through thick and thin, but I wouldn't be surprised if this gives some Republicans who may have voted for Donald Trump but hadn't been huge fans of him, gives them pause about whether he should be the standard bearer going forward or if they need to find someone else within the party who is more restrained, a little more controlled in his in his behavior."
