Story?, Cork's International Student Documentary Festival, is taking place virtually from the 4th to the 5th of November this week.

It is in order to attract young documentary makers from around Europe and beyond to showcase their talent here in Cork.

110 documentaries were submitted and have been evaluated by a panel of experts, who have now created a shortlist.

The event will be streamed live on the Story? Facebook Page on November 4th and 5th.

The awards ceremony will be held online on November 5th, with awards being presented for Best Film and a number of other categories.

Journalism lecturer and festival lead, Frank O’Donovan is extremely proud of the festival, saying:

“This will be the fourth year of the festival, which was established to promote MTU and develop links with other international universities, as well as showcasing the talent MTU students have to offer.”

“This festival is Ireland's only resident film showcase of its kind, so it’s been exciting to see how much it has grown already. I’m looking forward to see it develop and grow even more in the future.”

Distinguished documentary maker and chairman of the final judging panel for Story? 2021, Tom Roberts has said that

““With a 40 year career behind me in directing and producing docs, I have often worried about sustaining the quality of films in an age of digital and social media excess. But this collection of exciting and substantial films by a new generation of filmmakers proves those worries are misplaced.”
