Keith Ricken has stepped down as Cork football boss for the foreseeable future.

A statement from Cork GAA said that the St Vincent’s man was stepping away due to health reasons.

Ricken will be replaced as manager on an interim basis by John Cleary, who had been Ricken’s coach in the set up.

Ricken led the Cork under 20s to All Ireland success in 2019 and 2020, and replaced Ronan McCarthy as senior boss last October.

Cleary's first game in charge will be the Munster Football Championship semi final against Kerry.

The statement from Cork GAA read:

"Cork GAA has confirmed that Cork Senior Football manager Keith Ricken has stepped down from the role for the foreseeable future due to health reasons.

"Interim manager John Cleary will fill the role in his absence.

"We wish Keith a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the sideline."
