Cork star Patrick Horgan says he's looking forward to the new season after a difficult 2022.

The Rebels open their Allianz League campaign this coming Saturday night with a clash with All Ireland Champions Limerick under lights in Pairc ui Chaoimh.

Speaking to RedFM Sport ahead of the game, Horgan says he's enjoying his hurling and has no plans to call it a day with Cork any time soon.

"As long as I'm feeling good and I'm enjoying it, I'd be open to play. obviously it's not up to me either, there's panels to be picked and there's teams to be picked.

"But for myself, if I'm enjoying the game, if I love going down training, if I love packing the bag... well I'm taking credit now for packing the bag, I don't - my mam does!

"But when I love all that... I can't see a reason to stop."

Cork ran out winners against Limerick in the Munster Hurling League final recently, however Horgan says they won't taking too much from that victory when they come up against John Kiely's side again on Saturday.

"It will be a big game for the supporters, and for everyone involved.

"We're playing a savage team in Limerick, you can judge yourself against them a lot.

"At the same time we won't get too carried away. We're going to go down and play our game, and see where it takes us and move on to the next game after.

"Every game we go out we want to win, that doesn't change. Every game we take to the field for this year we want to be winning.

"Where that takes us I don't know, but we would like to win it all. But I suppose if you're thinking about that you're thinking too far down the road. You have a lot of competitive games before all that even happens, and focussing on Saturday night is the only thing we're thinking about now. There are 6 or 7 really difficult games ahead, and we'll treat them all the same."
