Families on the northside of the city say they are tired of living with dirty water in their homes

Residents in Gurranabraher say they've been dealing with discoloured water issues for close to 2 years which has damaged appliances and led to increased costs as they must buy bottled water

Uisce Eireann says a flushing programme is underway and plans are in place to replace the old cast iron pipes which is the root of the problem

Speaking to RedFM News Roy O'Driscoll from Gurranabraher describes what the water is like coming from the taps in his home

"It's like pouring tea from your cold water tap in the kitchen and the rest of the house. Every time it does come up discoloured or dirty, I do what I'm supposed to do, which is called Irish Water.  Every time I ring I get the same thing -  it's the water is dirty and it's just a temporary solution all the time that they're saying that they're going to flush the lines of the  system and it's just not working"
