Ryanair is warning Cork could miss out on the post pandemic recovery due to the planned closure of the airport.

The airline's chief executive Eddie Wilson said a decision to reopen his airline's Cork base has been impacted by the need for a recovery package and by the planned airport closure for a 10-week period from September 13 to facilitate a €40m overhaul of its main runway.

Failte Ireland says it expects to publish updated guidelines for outdoor gatherings later today.

It's after the Attorney-General said 200 people can attend an outdoor party - after the fallout from Katherine Zappone's event.

Fáilte Ireland held talks with government officials yesterday to update their guidelines for the hospitality sector.

At least 11 walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres are opening today - with several more over the weekend.

On Saturday - City Hall opens from 10am to 4pm and Bantry Primary Care Centre from 3.15pm to 4.30pm

On Sunday Mallow GAA Club opens 11am to 3pm and Clonakilty GAA Club from 1pm to 3pm.

The HSE is to issue new guidance to hospitals today, to further ease maternity restrictions.

Partners will be able to attend 12-week scans and C-sections, under the measures.

This is already the case in several hospitals, but the HSE says it will become standard across all units.
