The Taoiseach admits Covid-19 has hit the hospitality sector more than any other industry.

Micheál Martin says no-one's being targeted after the Government's decision to shut restaurants and pubs from 8 o'clock at night from tomorrow.

There will be an exemption to the 8pm closing time for weddings - which can last until midnight but with a cap of 100 guests.

Micheál Martin says coronavirus is causing the restrictions on hospitality:

"I understand the feeling, I understand the absolute sense of devastation and frustration. Covid-19 has hit the hospitality sector more than any other sector, and Covid has done this. Because of the nature of congregation gatherings, all over the world. Certain factors have been identified as more high risk than others. The public health advisor has been consistent on that. And it is devastating news."
