That's according to Fergal Harte, General Manager of The Kingsley Hotel and the Chair of the Cork Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation.
He was talking about support schemes like the Rates Waver.
The sector meet with the Taoiseach and Public Expenditure Minister, Michael McGrath, this morning, where industry representatives called for a reversal of cuts to pandemic supports.

Speaking to RedFM News, Fergal Harte says supports need to be retained at their original levels to counteract a difficult start to 2022:

"There have been really good supports put in place by the government throughout the pandemic. And we really appreciate that and things like the rates waiver, for example, you know, has been in place throughout and that's been a great help to businesses and to hotels that's due to end at the end of this year and we're calling for that to be extended into next year how easy up student because again, it will provide us with much more certainty. Usually the first three months of the year are traditionally very, very difficult for the hotel sector anyway. And that looks to be particularly poor this year, and that's really why it's so crucial to us. That's government support, like the WSS are retained at the level that they were asked."
