Staycationers are keeping the Irish Hospitality sector alive during a very difficult time, according to a Cork hotelier.

Owner of the Vienna Woods Michael Magner says hotels have been busy since reopening almost two months ago and
will be even busier now that 100 people can attend a wedding.

The hospitailty and tourism sector was one of the worst hit by the pandemic with the loss of all business travel and conferences.

Thousands of weddings were cancelled and hotels were restricted to hosting essential workers and people who needed to self isolate.

Speaking to RedFM News, Michael Magner says the easing of restrictions is further evidence that the world is returning to normal again.

"Were back open since the second of June, and obviously a staged reopening for the hospitality and tourism sector.

"It's wonderful to be working shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues again welcoming guests, particularly the Irish market which has chosen to staycation this summer.

"Without the Irish market being so loyal in supporting all our colleagues in the industry we wouldn't have businesses to run and jobs to provide to our colleagues."
