The Port is making provision for factors that may negatively impact on trade volumes in some of its activities, such as shortages of electrical components, surging energy prices and the cost of critical raw materials

However a spokesperson for the Port told the Irish Examiner that they don't face any capacity constraints in the immediate term, as they look to open their new state-of-the-art container terminal which will double their cargo capacity.

The Port has also increased their connectivity significantly with additional direct freight routes into central Europe,

This has helped Irish exporters and importers to bypass the delays at channel ports previously reached through England or Scotland.
