Non-Essential Retail Is Opening For The Final Day For At Least A Month

It's as the country has entered its third lockdown

Household visits were banned at midnight after the third record daily number of Covid-19 infections since Christmas.

1,718 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Republic yesterday - the highest since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, school holidays extended until the second week of January.

The measures will end on January 31st.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the Government will take a cautious approach to lifting them:
