The Finance Minister says he wants to see events like Electric Picnic back, but stopped short of saying this year's festival could go ahead.

Organisers MCD have said they would need to be on site next week to go ahead this year.

Minister Paschal Donohoe said a plan won't be ready by then:

"And I really hope that we will be in a position across the coming period and even across the coming weeks to lay out a plan regarding how that really important part of our economy can begin to organise live events again, whether they be Electric Picnic, whether it be an event at Whelan's, whether it be something at the National Concert Hall. These are so important."
