Irish Second-Level Students Union says the State Exams cannot go ahead as planned

Under current plans students sitting their Junior and Leaving Certs will be given more choice on their exam papers, which the ISSU have described as a "complete disregard for students' best interests."

The union are currently surveying students on the matter and say the vast majority of students are in favour of a hybrid model similar to the past two years.

Speaking to RedFM News, ISSU Uachtarán Emer Neville says it's clear that students simply can't sit their

"They've faced almost three years now of disruption in their education from school closures again and then when students are out of school, whether they are isolating or they have covid, they aren't being provided with online tuition, so students are on an uneven playing field at the moment.  Under the current guidance issued by the Department,  individual schools are able to send different class groups home, now exam students are being prioritised for in person tuition and we acknowledge that, however in some cases exam students are being sent home"
