Fianna Fail says students are under too much stress because of the uncertainty over the exact date of the Leaving Cert.

The exams won't be happening until late July or early August, but TD James Brown's slamming the Education Minister for failing to name a date.

He says students don't know what's going on and the constant drip feed of information is adding to their anxiety.

Deputy James Brown says Minister Joe McHugh must give them certainty so they can prepare properly for the Leaving.

"There are practical parts to a number of Leaving Cert subjects, and then you have the Leaving Cert itself, and students are experiencing an awful lot of uncertainty as to how those are going to work.

"Without definitive decisions by the Minister for Education and showing a bit of leadership to allow students prepare for the Leaving Cert in a fair manner, I think is totally unacceptable."
