Events Industry Alliance 'deeply disappointed' following meeting with Minister Catherine Martin

The group representing the live entertainment industry say no progress has been made towards a reopening date for fully vaccinated event attendance.

The Alliance says they are prepared to go above and beyond and have proposed enhanced safety measures including temperature checks and one way systems at venues.

Covid supports are to remain in place for those working in the sector until restrictions are removed.

Speaking to RedFM News, Edel Curtin from Coughlan's on Douglas Street in the city sums up the mood of those involved in the industry following todays meeting:

"Still no clarity on a roadmap. Still no clarity on what supports are going to be there for the industry and I think at this stage just everybody's completely deflated. I don't think it's necessarily Catherine Martin's concern. I think it's NPHET are advising government and they just don't seem to have any trust in our industry, that we can reopen safely, even though we can have 40,000 people at a match this Sunday in Croke Park."
