The Department of Children says 85% of childcare providers they have surveyed plan on re-opening.
It comes after the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar cited false information in the Dáil, saying as many as 40% would remain shut.
A large survey of providers by the Department of Children has indicated 85 per cent of childcare providers will re-open in September, with just 2% saying they will stay closed.
The rest are still thinking about what to do.
