Young Families, Long Terms Residents, And Farmers Will Be Affected By One Of The Planned Routes For The Long Awaited M20 Motorway

That's according to the 'No to M20 Navy Route Group' in North Cork

It was formed by residents in the Whitechurch and Blarney area who say they're not opposed to the infrastructure which will connect Cork and Limerick cities, but they say there is an alternative route that won't have such a devastating impact.

The public consultation period opened on November 19th, and has been extended to January 15th to allow people in the area to engage with the process in the absence of face-to-face consultations due to restrictions imposed by the COVID19 outbreak.

Speaking to RedFM News local resident in the area and spokesperson for the campaign group Deirdre Hosford says many people in the area are very worried about the impact the proposed navy route would have on their lives, but she says they'll keep fighting:
