The worst of the bad weather is over for the time being.

Storm Betty swept across the country on Friday night and left close to 100,000 houses without electricity.

Power has been restored to almost all affected buildings as of this morning, but a few thousand customers in the east of the country were without power overnight.

Aoife Keeley of Met Eireann says the outlook for the coming days is good overall:

"The most severe weather has passed us at this stage. So, really through the next kind of few days, we're looking at a mix of some showers, maybe a few longer spells of rain, but some good dry and bright spells in there as well".

The city and county were badly impacted by Storm Betty.

There was flooding in Carrigaline, Dunmanway and Roches Point, while trees fell in Allihies and Castletownbere.

TD Michael Collins says the flooding was bad:

"On Friday, I travelled throughout the Beara Peninsula: the Bantry area, out into the Mizen Peninsula and into areas like Clonakilty and Skibbereen. And there were huge amounts of water on road surfaces. It was quite dangerous. It caused quite a lot of flooding in areas and road closures".
