Works will begin this summer on a new upgrade of Kent Station.
Iarnrod Eireann's 8 million euro project will see an extension of Platform 5, which will deliver an extra platform and allow through running services
The new platform will result in an improved passenger experience by providing direct services through Kent Station from Mallow and onto Midleton or Cobh, while the new through platform will facilitate the capacity to treble train frequency.
