Traffic management is still in place in Mallow after severe flooding yesterday.

Cork County Council say the Mallow Park Road is closed, but the Mallow to Fermoy Spa Road is now open.

It comes as roads in many parts of the country remain in a dangerous condition after heavy rain fell in four counties where a Status Orange rain warning was in place for much of yesterday.

The worst affected areas in the country were Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford and Tipperary.

Many areas experienced spot flooding making driving condition dangerous.

Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority is urging motorists to avoid driving through floods:

"You could wreck your engine, you could flood the engine and worse, you could end up having the emergency services coming to get you from a situation that really you shouldn't get yourself in in the first place. Don't try and drive through flooded roads, and really watch out for vulnerable road users, cyclists pedestrians out there and give them plenty of space when you're practicing."
