The annual Tour de Munster charity cycle gets underway in the city today.
Over 100 cyclists will be taking part in the 600-mile four-day event in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland.
The group will be leaving Grand Parade in the next few minutes and will arrive in Killaloe in County Clare by this evening via Midleton, Lismore and Cahir.
The peloton will be returning to the city to finish the cycle on St Patricks Hill at around 4:30pm on Sunday.
Speaking to RedFM News, founder of the Tour de Munster Paul Sheridan outlines how much money the event has raised.
"To date, and this is the 22nd year of the Tour but if we count the first 21 years of the Tour we've raised €3.9m.
"Of that, €3.5m has gone to DSI Munster branches.
"We are now the biggest fundraiser probably by far on an annual basis for DSI Munster branches.
"The reality is is that there's an incredible synergy between the tour and the beneficiary."
