Rescuers in Turkey say the next 24 hours are crucial if they're to find survivors following an earthquake that's killed over 4-thousand people.

Teams have continued searching through the night and hospitals and clinics have been flooded with injured people.

Tens of thousands have seen their homes destroyed - and are now enduring freezing temperatures.

A group of secondary school students from Cork  were travelling to their Erasmus partner school in Turkey when the earthquake struck

Staff and students from Coláiste Éamann Rís were on their way to Malayta - a city in the east of the country - for a school exchange.

MTU Campuses will be closed today and tomorrow due to what's being described as a "significant IT breach and telephone outage"

A statement released yesterday said that all classes, full time and part time are cancelled for the next two days.

A man was airlifted to hospital after an accident in an industrial plant in Kerry last night.

It happened at around quarter-to-eight at the Kerry Ingredients and Flavours plant in Listowel.

It's understood the man suffered burns injuries.

He was initially brought to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee, but was then airlifted to Cork University Hospital.
