The European Central Bank is to raise interest rates for the first time since 2011.

It's expected they will go up by quarter of one percent however some anticipate it could be half of a percent, as Europe deals with the surge in inflation.

It's set to impact homeowners who are not on fixed interest rate mortgage repayments.

Efforts to boost the number of visitors to Kinsale are underway following a meeting at one of the towns largest attractions yesterday.

OPW Minister Patrick O'Donovan held a meeting with local business owners, members of the Council and Fáilte Ireland at Charles Fort to discuss opportunities and challenges.

Opportunities included the prospect of renovating derelict sites such as James' Fort and Desmond Castle, while challenges include the lack of parking and long traffic delays in the town during the height of the tourist season.

Greenhouse gas emissions increased by 4.7% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
