The Taoiseach says Bambie Thug has done their country and Macroom proud.

The Cork singer-songwriter came sixth in the Eurovision , just behind Israel while Swiss act Nemo went onto win.

Many performers including Bambi Thug were frustrated that Israel's participation was likely to overshadow the event.

Taoiseach Simon Harris says he's not reading too much into the geo-politics of Eurovison:

"I'm very proud of Bambie Thug, they did our country proud, they did Macroom proud they did Cork quite proud. It's the first time we've been in a final since 2018 to come 6th. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but can we maybe just do a song contest is just that they have a voting system in place, people vote, presumably people vote for the music, and I'm not gonna read too much in terms of geopolitics, into the Eurovision.
