The St. Patrick's Day Festival is well underway in the city.

Over 2,500 performers including Massachusetts State Troopers and groups from Philadelphia and Oklahoma are are marching through Grand Parade, Patrick's Street and Merchant's Quay.

Arts groups from across the country brought large floats to the first Saint Patrick's day festival to be held since the Covid-19 pandemic.

RedFM is proud media sponsor of today's parade and our newest presenter Rob Heffernan is MC'ing the event.

Speaking to RedFM News, Lord Mayor of Cork City, Councillor Colm Kelleher says it's good to be back:

"absolutely delighted to have the St. Patrick's Day festival back in the city after a hiatus of two years on account of the Covid-19 pandemic and looking forward to a very joyful, extended weekend in our city."
