The volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew in Youghal rescued a family of three this morning.

A couple, with their teenage son, radioed for help - after their 44ft yacht lost power, leaving them slowly drifting toward the rocks near Black Head, in Youghal Bay.

The family were experienced sailors and have been travelling the world on their yacht for the last 10 years.

A rope had become caught up in the propeller and, consequently, the vessel lost all power.

They radioed for help because they were concerned they would end up on the rocks.

The lifeboat towed the yacht back to Youghal pontoon.

It has been a very busy time for the RNLI, with the Youghal crew alone being called out five times in less than a week.
