The Summerhill Residents Association are the latest group in the city to raise an objection to the NTA’s plans, after RedFM News highlighted the concerns of the Hyde Park Residents Committee on Monday.

The association for the area close to St Luke’s Cross say plans to turn Summerhill North into a three lane transport corridor are “draconian and damaging” and will result in narrower footpaths and the loss of all on-street parking.

They have also said that the area already has a problem with speeding traffic and that widening the road will make the issue worse.

Speaking to RedFM News, former Lord Mayor and local resident Cllr Joe Kavanagh says people in the area realise the importance of sustainable transport, but says the NTA need to realise that not every area is suitable for the plans:

In a statement to RedFM News, The NTA say residents feedback is being reviewed by the BusConnects Team and that revised proposals for their Sustainable Transport Corridors will be presented in March and April.
