It's to make sure everyone gets a Christmas dinner each year
Cork's RedFM listeners are being asked to 'Donate a Christmas Dinner' to aid the annual Cork Penny Dinners Christmas appeal which helps to raise funds for the charity every year.
People are being asked to contribute some of the money that would have been spent on Christmas Parties to cover the cost of Christmas dinner for the patrons of Cork Penny Dinners.
The charity is gearing up for its busiest Christmas on record as a result of the pandemic and speaking to RedFM News Catriona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners says it's a great way to help people in Cork who are struggling:
'It just means that if someone pays 7.50, we'll get that and that will help to offset costs for us but more importantly it means everybody is helping in some sort of way. Some can't volunteer or do other stuff especially because of Covid. It means the world to us, and we know it will mean the world to people to be able to help people. The engine that runs us is the support.'
