A patient advocate says a new obesity drug could be a game changer.
A new study today showed the Irish-researched medicine helped some patients to lose as much as two stone in six months.
Bernadette Keenan from the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity says this could make a major difference for many of those who are severely overweight:
"So if you're taking one drug that reduces obesity and maybe thereby reducing kind of coronary heart disease type two diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. You know you could be coming off a lot of opiate drugs, so it makes a lot more sense really doesn't take one, rather than kind of a whole host of drug"
