Munster Technological University say they are fully committed to engaging with the Teachers Union of Ireland through normal industrial relations channels.
It's after some employees attached to the TUI staged a silent protest this morning at a flag raising ceremony.
The protesters say they are employed at the University and have several issues including recruitment and staff complaints procedures.
MTU say they will be engaging with the TUI at the Workplace Relations Commission in the coming weeks.
The university also says it was not made aware or given appropriate notice of any protest and it is their understanding that the protest was unofficial in nature.
