A motorist in Cork was detected going 83 kilometres over the speed limit over the Bank holiday weekend.
The motorist was detected travelling at 203km per hour in a 120km zone on the M8 at Kilworth.
An extensive Garda Roads Policing Operation was in place nationwide over the past weekend, with 2,841 drivers detected for speeding.
Over 4,000 roadside drug and alcohol tests were conducted, leading to 196 arrests
To date this year, 104 people have died on Irish roads. That is 12 more lives lost than this time last year.
