That's the warning from Cllr Audrey Buckley who is calling for the construction of a section of footpath outside Templebreedy Church as a matter of urgency.

Children approaching Templebreedy National School from the zebra crossing have to walk along the margin of the Upper Road, while children on the other side of the road are being forced to walk on the outside of cars parked along the wall of the church.

A lack of funding and the presence of walls on both sides of the road have hampered the building of a path on the road for years, however it's hoped construction will begin next year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Buckley says the area around the Upper Road is becoming busier and says action is needed before a child is injured:

"We have a new estate Drake's Points and Brightwater, you're talking about 500 houses that are going to be when it's finished that will be in there, right now there's about 400. There is a zebra crossing but when they cross over to the schools- cross over the road where all the schools are- there is a missing link of about nine metres. And unfortunately in the morning when parents are dropping their kids off to school, or when the bus stops, the kids are walking out onto the road. So it's quite tight, and it's very dangerous."
