Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre in Cork are seeking clarity from the Irish Government on visas for Ukrainians.
Minister for Justice Helen McEntee announced an immediate lifting of visa requirements on Friday, meaning people who are considering leaving Ukraine and travelling to Ireland may do so without a visa if they judge it safe to travel.
The Migrant and Refugee rights centre based on Paul Street in Cork City, say it is unclear what Ukrainians next step would be once they arrive here and how they would secure accommodation and work.
Speaking to RedFM News, Policy and Communications Manager with Nasc in Cork City says they will continue to seek clarity from Government:
"The Irish government did act swiftly put after the conflict to introduce the visa waiver programme, one of the things we would like to see the Government do is to maybe introduce our scheme or introduce a temporary protection type method, so that there is clarity for Ukrainians, after they arrive in Ireland, for example, where they can work our access medical care, and this would mean that they could potentially avoid having to go into the same processes."
