Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre are holding an event for members of the public who are currently hosting, or who are considering hosting, refugees in their homes.

The event will take place in person on North Main Street this Thursday and is part of a series of nationwide events being organised jointly by Nasc, Doras and the Irish Refugee Council.

To date, almost 40,000 refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Ireland and thousands are now living in family homes in communities across Ireland.

The topics covered on the evening will include important things to know as a host, information on services and supports available to hosts and guests as well as an opportunity to meet other hosts.

Majo Rivas, Nasc’s Community Sponsorship Manager states:

“In the past year the Irish public have opened their homes and hearts in response to humanitarian crises. Just over a year ago, communities across Ireland sprang into action to provide homes for Afghan refugees. At the time, it was impossible to foresee that a war in Ukraine would displace millions of refugees throughout Europe and thousands of Ukrainian refugees would be hosted in families across Ireland.”
